The phrase "Rephlex is shit" appeared on a T-shirt in the late 1990s, referencing Rephlex Records, a British electronic music label co-founded by Richard D. James, also known as Aphex Twin. The T-shirt was worn by electronic music artist Luke Vibert and The Jones Machine during his performances and was meant as a playful jab at the label, rather than a serious criticism. Despite the provocative slogan, it was part of the culture of irreverence and humor often associated with electronic music at the time.
